Who is iwwt?
The Indigenous Women of The Wabanaki Territories (IWWT) operates in the unceded Wolastoqey/Mi’kmak’ki Territory of the Wolastoqey/Mi’kmaq peoples. Indigenous Women of the Wabanaki Territories (IWWT), is a not-for-profit organization. We have relocated to the beautiful community of Sitansisk! (St. Mary's, First Nation)
Mission:
Our mission is “to provide healing and capacity building to Indigenous Women and 2SLGBTQQIA++ people in order to promote and recognize their traditional leadership roles”.
Vision:
We aim to heal the hearts and spirits of Indigenous women, and 2SLGBTQQIA++ people through spirituality, wellness programs, and after-care. We empower Wabanki women, and 2SLGBTQQIA++ people with educational and workplace skills. We work with organizations, communities, and both traditional and modern governments to recognize the central roles of women and 2SLGBTQQIA++ people in guiding the development of the people and the protection of the land. We advocate dismantling gender inequality and discrimination and addressing the crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA++ peoples.
We represent:
We represent Indigenous Women and 2SLGBTQQIA++ people from the Wabanaki Territories across New Brunswick and any Members that join our organization from the Wabanaki Territories outside of New Brunswick.
CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS:
The most recent Constitution and By-Laws of the Indigenous Women of the Wabanaki Territories was passed by the members at the October 22, 2022, AGA.
