National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, Two-Spirit, and other gender-diverse people (MMIWG2S+)

Wednesday, May 5th is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG). On this day, Indigenous Women of the Wabanaki Territories (IWWT), honour all Indigenous mothers, daughters, aunties, sisters, grandmothers, nieces, cousins, and others who identify as women and girls. We commemorate our missing and murdered women and girls and their families. We recognize the strength of the survivors among us. We know now more than ever that we must embrace one another to support community healing. Many are struggling with their health and well-being during the pandemic, and we have lost many loved ones. Please join IWWT Elders and the families of women and girls lost in Wabanakek for an in-person event. Sharing will focus on supporting one another and caring for ourselves now and in the times ahead. All people are welcome.
